Ragunan Zoo Held Keepers and Management Staff Training in Collaboration with WAZA


Jakarta, August 18th, 2016 – Known as the one of the biggest zoos in the world does not necessarily make the head and all employees of Ragunan Zoo satisfied. It has to be followed by the improvement of the quality and professionalism of the human resources. Therefore, the Director of Ragunan Zoo agreed to organize training for keepers and management staff/curators.
The purpose of this training is to improve the skills and quality of the keepers and curators to be more professional, especially in handling the animals and conservation issues.
In her opening speech, the Director of Ragunan Zoo, Dina Himawati, SE., M.Si, stated “To save animals from extinction, training  is needed to improve the quality of the zoo. I wish that this training can improve the quality of the human resource, especially the keepers and curators in Ragunan Zoo.”
This training was supported by the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and was held on 18 – 20 August 2016 in Schmutzer Primate Centre, Ragunan Zoo. Ragunan Zoo invited Dave Morgan (Wild Welfare), Valerie Hare (Shape of Enrichment), and Debbie Ng (Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden) as keynote speakers and this training was joined by 40 participants.
